Ex Wife wants it all

When are the courts going to put realistic restrictions on the amount that ex's can get. I pay more than 50% of my income to child support, another 20% to alimony. You do the math. Then the Judges wonder why we can't afford homes for when our children come visit.

Time for reform!

It's a money grab for the women and the state allows it.

The problem is gender bias. The courts still believe it is 1950 and woman are entitled to compensation as caregivers. Most families today have shared parenting responsibilities between husband and wife because both work. When a petition for divorce is filed, there is not even a place on the state form for a Father to file for physical custody. It is a foregone conclusion that the Mother will retain custody and the Father is seperated from his Children. How many divorced people do you know with "true" share physical custody? It doesn't exist. In turn, the Courts burden the Fathers with unrealistic financial obligations. Most Mothers sit back and collect their child support and don't work.

While on the subject of child support, the guidelines are ridiculous. Some Fathers pay upwards of 60% of their salary because their ex will not hold a job. In the end, this "child support" entitles the Mothers to drive nice cars, get their hair and nails done, travel, go out with friends while the kids are with the nanny...all while Father is working two jobs just to pay the child support.

Until Fathers unite and form a powerful lobby, their voices will not be heard. Woman and Mothers have powerful voices in the state house pushing for everything from child support guidelines to abuse prevention. Men don't stand a fair chance in Courts. This is a fact. There are some very good upstarts that are looking out for Father's rights in Maassachusetts. Do a simple google search to find ones that are right for you. Get involved. If enough men fight against the inequalities and gender bias in our Court Systems, maybe we will finally see reform.

and I forgot to mention, there are no guidelines concerning how Mother can spend that "child support". Many times, the Mother spends the chid support on everything but the children. The children's needs are often neglected so Mother can enjoy the support she recieves on their behalf.

Call it what you'd like, men all over the Commonwealth are getting screwed.

Massachusetts is one of the most liberal states in the country. Don't expect changes anytime soon.

I am the exception to the case.  I am a woman who agrees that men get the shaft in almost all cases.  I am a woman who walked away paying 40K in debt while he went bankrupt.   He rarely worked during our marriage. Then went back to a union job as soon as we divorced.  I paid for his lawyer and finally after five years accepted 150 a week for the remainder of the marriage.  He went on to marry a rich woman and retire young.  I put the kids through college alone.   So I feel your pain men
